And the Journey begins..

Dan and I finally made he decision to go forward with adding to our family. The final decision maker was right after Christmas when we went to visit one of my best friends, The Smiths, who recently adopted two daughtersfrom the Ukraine. That's all it took for Dan! He was hooked! Steph was also very excited at the thought of not being an only child anymore, which is pretty cool when you are a Junior in High School. So I made the appointment with the local adoption agency and we have had our first appointment and received all the paperwork the needed to have filled out and have returned it.

In the mean time, HAL was able to give me the name of the wonderful person they used as their facilitator and I have been in email contact with here.

It still is a bit overwhelming some days as I seem to think and dream about the future all the time!

  2. This is from Marsha Whaley's blog. Don't know what age range or gender you're looking into. This boy sounds like he'd be a good match for your family. (In my humble opinion.)

    Anyway, here's what Marsha wrote:

Now, I'd like to tell you about another adoption--one that hasn't happened yet. I don't know who's doing the adopting--but, I know who's being adopted---it's a 14 year old boy named Andrei. He lives in Odessa, Ukraine in orphanage number four. He's a great kid. He's one of the ones who doesn't get into trouble. Not only that, but he's really, really handsome. He wants a family---badly.

He started in the orphanage in the 1st grade along with a group of other orphans. ALL of the other kids in his class have been adopted. He's the one who hasn't been chosen from his class. Recently, he asked someone why he was never chosen. There's no answer for that question. He went on to say that, no matter how tired he is, he won't go to sleep st night until he has said a prayer to God asking for his very own family.

That's not all. He went on to ask that person if they would help him find a family.

I'd like to help, too. I have his picture! He's a doll! If you, or anyone you know, might be interested (oh, please, please be interested) please email me at:
